Mr. karachi wala i have same stiuation , i am currently in us and AP in hand and want to marry there in home country. bring my wife on H-4 and come back to us on AP .

I just went to Mumbai for H1 stamping and my previous visa on the passport had expired in 2006. So even if you are going for H1 stamping but your visa on the passport has been expired for more than 12 months...then you have to answer NO for this question.

If your name is coorect in EAD, then you should go to SSN office and
explain them , and if required re apply. You will get it changed. Remember SSN is going to be stuck to your lifetime. Hence better do the correct thing.
